Where Ferizaj
Comes Together
An informal community gathering where speakers shared ideas, experiences, and stories — and the room talked back. Technology, education, culture, civic life, entrepreneurship: every topic that mattered had a stage here. People came from across Kosovo.
Speakers, questions, community.
Stories, Not Lectures
Speakers were expected to be informal — to tell a story. Sharing personal and professional experiences that led to success, the skills and discipline it took to get there, and inspiration for the young people in the room. Never a sales pitch.
Open Discussion
After every talk, the conversation opened to the room. The audience raised questions, shared their own experiences, and engaged directly with speakers. That exchange was the heart of every edition.
Built by Volunteers
The entire BarCamp Ferizaj team operated on a voluntary basis — driven by a belief in doing good for their community. Speakers were suggested by the audience and community supporters through various channels. The program was shaped by everyone who cared enough to get involved.
Milestone editions
Seven years of community
September 14, 2013 — Edition #1
The first BarCamp Ferizaj opened its doors. A small group of volunteers, a borrowed hall, and an open invitation. Technology, web, startups, and local innovation — shared in an informal venue for the first time in Ferizaj.
Finding Its Range
Education — formal and informal — took the stage. So did culture: theatre, music, painting. The community discovered that BarCamp was never just about technology. Every edition brought a new theme, a new conversation, and drew people from further afield.
At Full Stride
100 people at Edition #25. Smart devices, civic innovation, art, and entrepreneurship shared the same stage. BarCamp had become an important part of young people's lives in Ferizaj — and a trusted part of the city's identity.
Depth & Maturity
Harder conversations — mental health, gender equality, the responsibilities of public institutions. Speakers told honest stories. The room responded. Each edition shaped by the community — suggested by attendees, supporters, and everyone who believed in the project.
Edition #50
160+ people gathered for the last edition — including attendees from across Kosovo. A milestone, not a farewell. The informal community that BarCamp built — the connections, the shared ambition, the belief that Ferizaj deserves spaces like this — remained very much alive.
Something is being planned.
BarCamp Ferizaj has always been more than an event — it's been a proof that this city has the people, the curiosity, and the energy to come together. That hasn't changed. Work is underway to bring it back, in a form worthy of what it was.
