Volunteering and activism

On 1 December 2018 the BarCamp Ferizaj team held a special edition at the Cultural Centre in Shtime, about volunteering and activism. BarCamps, informal conferences open to everyone, had long been held in cities such as Pristina, Ferizaj, Gjilan, Mitrovica, Peja, Prizren and Gjakova, and now it was Shtime's turn. The talks covered young people taking part in public life, taking the initiative, and how young people can be part of change in their communities.

Vjosa D. Morina and Bjondina Rexha, from Mentoring our Future, were the first speakers. They talked about mentoring young people and guiding them in their careers.

Arbenita Krasniqi, from the Kosovar Youth Council (KYC), spoke next. She talked about the organisation's work with the Kosovo School Students' Council (KNK) and other KYC projects to increase students' participation in decision-making in education and to raise the quality of education in Kosovo.

Shpend A. Mustafa, from Iniciativa për Progres (INPO) and an organiser of BarCamp Ferizaj, was the last speaker. Shpend talked about how BarCamp Ferizaj began, its challenges and the importance of contributing to the community through volunteering, such as organising BarCamps, and the other youth activities he is involved in.

At the end, young people in Shtime were invited to help organise BarCamps themselves.
